Undergraduate Program in Experimental Psychology
Transfer Student Information
Welcome to UCSD and the Department of Psychology
Academic advising at UCSD is shared by two sets of advisors: College and Major.
There are two undergraduate advisors for psychology majors: Hermila Torres and Betty Gunderson. Advisors are not assigned to specific students. As your major advisors, you may contact us for questions related to your psychology major. This can include: major requirements, double major, prerequisites, course planning, honors programs, independent research, etc.
To register for your first quarter, please follow the steps below:
- Review the requirements for BA and BS psychology majors on our department website at http://psy.ucsd.edu/undergraduate/index.html.
- Check your transfer record on TritionLink. Are all the courses you took listed? Are the UCSD equivalent courses listed? If you took a course and it does not appear on your TritonLink record, please contact the Admission's Office for correction. If a course appears, but does not show a UCSD equivalent, you may file an undergraduate student petition with Psychology Student Affairs to determine if equivalency exists.
You should check www.assist.org, the official source for articulation and student transfer information. Please note that not all courses that are transferable to UCSD, will satisfy psychology major requirements. Likewise, completion of TAG or IGETC, does not mean you have completed all lower-division psychology requirements. If you took a course that does not appear on assist.org and you think it is equivalent, you must file an undergraduate student petition with Psychology Student Affairs.
- Once you have determined which major courses you have completed and which major courses you still need to take, look at the 2005-06 course offerings. The Schedule of Classes on TritonLink lists course offerings for all departments.
To contact us with specific questions pertaining to your major or your first quarter schedule, please email us at the following addresses. Be sure to include your name, PID, any courses in progress at your community college, and which psychology degree (BA or BS) you are pursuing.
Welcome!
